Who started cryptocurrency?
The concept of cryptocurrency was first introduced by an individual or a group of individuals using the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto. Nakamoto published a whitepaper titled 'Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System' in 2008, outlining the principles and design of the first cryptocurrency, Bitcoin.
Bitcoin, the first decentralized digital currency, was officially launched in 2009, with Nakamoto mining the first block known as the Genesis Block. This marked the beginning of the cryptocurrency era and laid the foundation for the development of numerous other cryptocurrencies.
Since the inception of Bitcoin, hundreds of cryptocurrencies have been created by various individuals, organizations, and communities.
