When was dogecoin created?

Dogecoin was created on December 6, 2013 as a cryptocurrency that started as a joke but gained a strong following. It was co-founded by Billy Markus and Jackson Palmer, who aimed to create a fun and lighthearted digital currency inspired by the popular Doge meme featuring a Shiba Inu dog.

Unlike Bitcoin and many other cryptocurrencies, Dogecoin has no maximum supply limit and uses a Scrypt algorithm for mining. It quickly gained popularity due to its friendly and supportive community, as well as its involvement in various charitable causes and sponsorships.

Today, Dogecoin remains one of the top cryptocurrencies in terms of market capitalization and continues to have a dedicated fanbase.
